CATCHING UP!

I am afraid I have been rather quiet for a while, but as some of you may know I am one of the Directors of Wonderwool Wales and do most of the organising and running of the show, so for at least 5 months of the year it is almost impossible to work on anything of my own.

WORKSHOPS

We had great fun at Mid Wales Textile Artists this month, where I ran a Textures Felting Workshop for the day. Everyone made a decorated flat piece of prefelt and then added glass beads, additional prefelt to make craters & raised areas, along with tendrils and 3D ruffles. The pieces were then going to be embroidered when dry. I can't wait to see everyone's work next month.

27 July 2022 MEIFOD WORKSHOPS

We had a really fun felting workshop at Meifod Valley Alpacas on 7th and 8th June where we made a decorative piece of felt on the first day, most managed to make a second piece as well, then on the second day we all sat and slow stitched into the felt pieces. It was a lovely relaxing day stitching with a group of super ladies. This type of workshop is definitely good for your mental health as you just switch off from everything and just sit and stitch, no pressure.

28 April 2022 - William Morris Quilt and more

Well, the William Morris Quilt is finally finished and is on our bed. I love it and so pleased I decided to make it. There are some mistakes, not all of the green stones are square, but unless you look closely you would not notice.

12 January 2019 - Visit to Beckford Silk

Happy New Year! 2019 has brought new ideas for projects, the main one being to make panels for two rather nice metal 3 fold screens. With these in mind I visited Beckford Silk in the Cotswolds before Christmas to buy 1/2 metre lengths of various colours to experiment with, some of this fabric will also come in handy for making small samples ready for two Nuno Felting Workshops that I have been asked to run this year. Whilst at this wonderful Silk shop I found 4 long scarf seconds with William Morris prints, well being a big William Morris & Arts & Crafts fan these just had to go into my shopping bag! I am now considering using them to make up the nuno felted panels and then to stitch some of the pattern outlines. - Watch this space!!

21 August 2018 - Eco Printed Vest Top

The botanical printed vest is now finished and the silk noil fabric has a lovely soft drapy feel to it. This is the first time I have eco printed with this fabric and shall definitely be using it again. It doesn't have the same sheen as finished silks, but is still rather nice.

2 August 2018 - Workshop with Jackie Cardy

As you may have noticed on the Workshop page, I organise occasional workshops at The Minerva Centre in Llanidloes. In July Jackie Cardy gave a 2 day workshop making felt pictures, there were 11 of us on the course and some lovely pieces were produced all to be worked on at home afterwards adding stitch, hand and machine, to the pieces. Here is my finished picture which I have mounted onto artists' canvas backed with black felt. Inspiration came from the Botanica book in the Kew Museum range, a really fabulous book with amazing illustrations.
