8th SEPTEMBER - FELT BOWLS
On this workshop you will learn how to lay out wool fibres over a resist, and using traditional wet felting techniques, make a 3D Felt Bowl.
All materials will be available to purchase on the day, just bring along a couple of hand towels and a water sprayer (a plastic milk bottle with holes in the lid will do).
DATES TO BE CONFIRMED - FELTING TO EMBROIDER
On this workshop you will learn to layout wool fibres and decorate the surface with yarns, fibres and fabric. Using traditional wet felting techniques we will the produce a beautiful piece of felt ready to embroider on the next day. The second day will be spent slow stitching into the felt. I will bring along several stitch books for reference and show you my favourite stitches that I use a lot in my work.
All materials will be available to purchase on the day, just bring along a couple of hand towels and a water sprayer (see note above in the Felt Bowls workshop). If you have embroidery thread and needles do bring them along.
DATE TO BE CONFIRMED - FELT VASE COVER
Come along to this workshop and learn how to make a beautiful Vase Cover.
You will learn how to lay out wool fibres, decorate the surface and, using wet felting techniques, make a flat piece of felt which, by sewing the short sides together, can be made into a practical Vase Cover. Just pop a glass jam jar inside and some flowers!
All materials will be available to purchase on the day, just bring along a couple of hand towels and a water sprayer.
Workshop for Meirionnydd Textiles July 2023
The 2 day workshop for Meirionnydd Textiles has just taken place and what a wonderful time we have all had. Some beautiful pieces of felt were made and stitching started on the second day. A few of the students wanted to learn some 3D techniques so we had a go today and they can be finished at home. Here are images of the work achieved.
Workshop for Rowan Tree Travel group from Canada / USA April 2023
I had the pleasure of running a workshop for some lovely ladies from the USA & Canada straight after Wonderwool this year. The workshop was run over two days, the first day making decorative pieces of felt using the wet felting techniques and on the second day we sat and embroidered into the pieces, chatting and enjoyed each others' company, learning new stitches and producing a beautiful piece at the end. Everyone enjoyed the course and I have been invited back for next year's tour group, who will also be enjoying a visit to Wonderwool Wales.
